The right logo, with the right characteristics, will boost
your visibility, credibility and memorablity – which means
more business for you!
These characteristics include:
Consistency in use of your logo, tagline, materials.
Repetition of similar elements, used in the same or similar
ways, helps people to remember who you are and what you do.<--more-->
Memorability, so that your logo stays at the forefront of
your potential clients’ minds. That way, they’ll think of
you next time they have a need.
Meaningfulness, so that your logo can spread the message
about the distinguishing characteristics of your business,
and tell your business’s story.
Uniqueness, which helps you stand out from the crowd. For
example, if everyone in your industry uses a particular
symbol (i.e., travel agencies often use globes in their
logos), try to use something else – that way, your logo
doesn’t just look like everyone else’s.
Professionalism, in the quality of the graphics, the
printing and the paper on which your materials are printed.
Using home-printed business cards or clip art for your logo
will make your buisness look cheap.
Timelessness in your logo will ensure that you don’t have
to redesign your logo in just a few years and that your
investment and equity in your design will be lasting.
Designing your logo based on your brand definition instead
of on current design trends will make your logo last longer.
Contrast between the colors in your logo – and not just in
terms of hue (the color itself), but in terms of value (the
darkness of that color) as well, so that it translates well
either to black and white or greyscale and colorblind
people are able to see the difference in color.
Unity among the different elements in the logo. The logo
must fit together as a single unit, and not just appear as
a jumble of elements pasted together. It’s often best to
have a logo fit within a circular, triangular or
rectangular shape so that it visually appears to be one
unit. It’s also important for the size of the logo icon to
relate well to the size of the name, and to make sure that
one isn’t bigger than the other, so that they seem to
belong together.
Scalability, so that your logo looks equally good on both a
business card and on a sign for your business (or a
billboard!), and at every size in between. Your business’s
name should stay legible as you scale the logo to different
sizes – be sure that your designer chooses a font that is
easily readable.
Having a professionally designed logo can really give your
business a jumpstart and helps your business get the
attention – and clients – you need to succeed.

Do you submit articles to e-zine sites? If not may I ask why? Submitting articles is one of the best ways you can quickly and easily increase not only your web traffic but also your sales your business makes in any given month.
I would like to take this time to discuss with you some of the benefits that come with submitting you articles to e-zine sites, and why I recommend you start doing it.
1. You’ll brand your web site, business and yourself by submitting articles to e-zines. You could include your name, business name, your credentials, web site address and e-mail address in your resource box. Branding yourself is an important part of business if you wish to make yourself stand out from your competitors.
2. You will become known as an expert on the topics you write about. This will give you and your business extra credibility, which will help you, compete against your competition. People will start to have more truth and faith in your business.
3. Your article might also be placed on the publisher’s home page. If they publish each issue on their home page this will give you some extra exposure. Every bit of extra traffic will greatly help your website.
4. You might get extra exposure if the e-zine publisher archives their e-zine on their site. People might want to read the back issues before they make the decision to subscribe.
5. You will get free advertising. This will allow you to spend your profits on other forms of advertising. You could buy advertisements in other e-zines that don’t publish your articles.
6. You might get extra income from people wanting to hire you to write other articles, books, or even ask to speak at seminars. This is a great way to multiply your income.
7. You could allow e-zine publishers to publish your articles in their free e-books. Since people give them away, your advertising could multiply all over the Internet. This could have a viral affect and really bring in tons of traffic.
8. You will get your article published all over the web when you submit it to an e-zine publisher that has a free content directory on their web site. They’ll allow their visitors to republish your article with your bio and website link in it.
9. You’ll gain people’s trust. If they read your article and like it, they won’t be as hesitant to buy your product or service. You will then be able to increase your profits.
10. You could get your article guaranteed to run in an e-zine. You could agree to run one of their articles in your e-zine if, in exchange; they run yours in their e-zine. It’s a win/win situation.
So as you can see there is a number of reasons why you should start to submit your articles to e-zine sites. Again if your not doing this, chances are you are losing out on a lot of extra profits.

I have not seen such a comprehensive guide as Property Mart overseas before. This is a goldmine of information on seemingly hundreds of countries where you might want to buy a property for holidays, rental or investment. For each country you can read about the location, history, structure and property markets.
In addition there is a constantly updated section telling you about the country’s property hotspots. I love getting detail like this – it brings out the property developer in me and I always want to get on the next plane and check it out. My favourite is Spain, shown in the photo, apparently the Spain property hot spot to buy is the third largest city, Valencia.
There are also some good articles on the site about property investment around the world, including a very good piece on the future of the buy to let market here in the UK. This is a useful site for anybody who owns, or aspires to own, real estate anywhere in the world.

This year I am waiting for the new tax year to begin before investing in some IT equipment upgrades and replacements. Prices are falling on all computers and laptops, and it is also possible to save even more if you look out for used cisco and other second hand makes at discount.

I was quite taken aback recently to discover that that in the home furnishings area alone, stores enjoy a gross margin of 43.3 per cent on average. There is an innovative way round this, it consists of using a club like directbuy. They can help you get all your goods at manufacturer prices without traditional retail mark-up. Imagine, buying brand names the same prices that are normally only available to retail stores……

There is an expanding market for compact and lightweight travel gear as the pressure on weight and space in planes continues. This is a good opportunity for new business catering to these needs, and the enterprising home business owner should now be examining how this can be turned to advantage.

I have had a lot of ups and downs with this blog, after my page rank suffered badly in the October ‘Google slap’ as a result of accepting sponsored posts. Then I had some problems with my blogging software – sometimes I just feel that working online is like being on a treadmill. I keep running but I get nowhere.

When you are looking for income on your website from contextual advertising, beware the pitfalls of the various pricing scales that the agencies apply. If your site loses page rank or popularity the cpm that you get paid is likely to fall dramatically.

I never thought that the topic of adjustable beds would ever be something that I knew about, but a few years ago my Mum decided that she needed one so that she could sleep with her head raised. The first company that visited her quoted a crazy figure. We paid half that sum by doing a quick check online for the equivalent item.

Here is another example of a niche market in action: how many people are looking for plasma lifts today? You may be surprised to find that this search term is going to be demanded at least 200 times!

Well, this is now the peak season for weight loss products so if you have any websites or blogs on this topic make sure you optimise them well for keywords like hoodia or any other high paying diet related keywords. Hopefully you will see some good results from this during January.
