Working at Home – Degrees of Isolation (2)

Written on June 27th, 2008 by no shouts

The joy of being your own boss will not last long if you
are the type of person who needs prolonged daily
interaction with colleagues but have chosen a home business
which requires you to spend most of the day working alone.
Don’t let yourself fall into the trap of thinking that it
will be different when you are working for yourself:
personalities do not change that dramatically. If you are
an extrovert who needs to be with other people for most of
your waking hours, you won’t suddenly find yourself
overjoyed to be a hermit just because you are working for
yourself. Being your own boss brings many changes but a
complete personality change is not one of them.

Running your own business from home does not necessarily
mean you will have to spend all day, every day as a
prisoner in your own home. We often use the phrases
“working at home” and “working from home” as synonyms but
there are plenty of businesses that you can run “from home”
without actually spending much time “at home”. In fact, as
a home based business owner, you might find you spend less
time at home than you would if you were working as an
employee at someone else’s business premises.

Think of all the self-employed plumbers, electricians,
landscape gardeners, decorators, mobile nail technicians,
car valet services and repair services of all kinds. These
business owners do all their actual work outside their own
homes, the only part of the business that takes place “at
home” is their paperwork; even appointments are usually
booked via a mobile or messaging phone service.

At the opposite extreme are the people who use the Internet
to work at home. Their business is conducted entirely
online and usually in solitude. A person with a home based
Internet business can spend anything from a couple of hours
online each day up to (and sometimes over) a full twelve
hours. The time required depends upon the type of business
and the personality of the owner. If you work online as,
say, a virtual assistant, your business might involve
fulfilling orders at short notice and you will need to
choose whether to put in some extra hours of work or to
decline the job (and possibly risk losing a customer for
good).

Working At Home – Degrees Of Isolation (1)

Written on June 27th, 2008 by no shouts

Do you dream of being your own boss and being able to work
at home running your own business? Many people who dream
of being able to work at home, overlook the degree of
isolation they will experience when working at home, and
don’t stop to think about how well-equipped they are to
deal with it. Your ability to cope with isolation will
depend upon your personality. The degree of isolation you
are likely to experience, and the way you will be able to
cope with it should be given careful consideration before
you commit yourself to a work at home career.

There are two basic elements to consider before you choose
a home business: 1. how happy you are when you are alone
for long stretches of time; 2. how much time you will need
spend working on your own . (more…)

Blacklisted from Google Case Study

Case Study : – Blacklisted from Google!
In using and applying SEO (Search Engine Optimization ) to
get more traffic to any website, I am always testing new
ideas and tools that are provided to help you get the work
done faster.

In some cases these tools border on the line of what Google
approves of.

Recently I got to try one of these tools out. It was not a
free test but at $47.00 per month. The tool (or service
really) was around the concept of 3 way linking. 3 way
linking can be explained like this:

I have a 2 websites. (A and B) I want to get links to one
of these websites. I want one way links to my site.

So I contact a webmaster (site C) and ask if will link to
Website A, while I will link back to him from site B. Thus
creating a one way to my site. (more…)

to sell, right? Only then can you earn a commission from
the sales. That’s why choosing the right set of products to
promote can make a world of difference in how much you

Know your niche

You need to know which industry segment you are interested
in. This will enable you to promote these products better.
Assess your own hobbies and interests and then find
suitable products which relate to this segment. Find out
which things you like doing in your spare time and then
take up these segments as areas to find the right product
or products.

Good research always pays off, especially when it comes to

Attributes You Need To Succeed At Working At Home

Working At Home – Four Attributes You Need To Succeed At Working At
Home
Many people who toy with the idea of starting their own
business and working at home, don’t realise that you need
to put in a great deal of effort if you are to be
successful. People thinking about working at home
day-dream about being able to leave the alarm switched off
and lie in bed as long as they want. They picture
themselves quitting their job and telling the boss “goodbye
forever”. They imagine themselves lazing about on the
patio on sunny days and snuggled up on the sofa while less
fortunate people are out in the cold doing the daily
commuting routine. They imagine themselves as stating
their occupation as “CEO” and they picture the healthy bank
balance that goes with that particular territory.

Working at home can include all that and more but the whole
picture is not all rosy. Strangely, the thing all too many
people leave out of their work at home day-dreams is the
“work” part. It is, after all, working at home and not
“messing around at home” we are talking about; you don’t
earn yourself a healthy bank balance by spending your time
messing about with expaning your computer memory. To be your own boss you need to possess
certain attributes. The following are four attributes you
need to have a successful home business.

Commitment. You must be 100% committed to your home
business. There is no boss looking over your shoulder
ready to tell you what to do and when to do it. If you
want to make money, you must be prepared take full
responsibility for everything involved in your business.
You are bound to encounter obstacles and disappointments,
that is the way life is; you have to deal with those things
and continue working to build up your business.

Organisation. You must be capable of organising your work
and able to recognise the need for a proper schedule. If
the work does not get done, there is nobody to fall back
on, the buck stops with you. A flexible schedule was one
of the things that attracted you to working at home but,
before a schedule can be flexed, it has to be planned in
detail.

Goal Setting. Working at home in your own business is not
like being employed. It’s not a matter of going to the
office each day and doing whatever tasks the boss assigns
to you. You need to know where you want your business to
go and what steps you need to take to achieve your goals.

Focus. This is the hardest thing for most people when they
first start working at home. The numerous distractions
begging for your attention when you work at home make it
easy to lose focus and waste time. These distractions
exist in all sorts of forms: for instance, a ringing phone,
a friend dropping by or just the allure of the chance to
get out for a stroll on a sunny day. You cannot afford to
let yourself be distracted and you need to be able to
regain your focus quickly if anything intervenes when you
are working.

Working at home successfully requires the individual to put
in time and effort. People who make a success of working
at home have certain character traits that you will need if
you are to succeed as your own boss. If you fail to
realise what is involved, you will not make money working
at home.

What To Look For In A Home Based Business.

Written on June 26th, 2008 by no shouts

There are many reasons a person looks to start a home based
business.

Foremost, you want the business to be ethical and honest.

For several years multilevel marketing opportunities were
shied away from due to their connection to pyramid schemes.
True, a few people made a ton of money on these schemes,
but for every person who got rich from them, there were
several who lost money. Despite the fact that a tangible
product or viable service plays a major role in ethical
multilevel marketing businesses, the similarities keep
people from venturing into this type of commerce.

If you are one of those who do not believe a home business
can make you money without taking it from someone else,
consider the beginnings of multilevel marketing.

In the past many large companies such as Avon, Amway, Mary
Kay Cosmetics, Tupperware and Fuller Brush used door to
door selling and multilevel marketing to put their products
in the homes of very happy customers while at the same time
allowing ordinary people to earn an astonishing income. (more…)
