Bulldog Breed Facts and Health Problems Information

The Bulldog is one of the more popular breeds and there is a good reason why. These dogs have a one-of-a-kind look and incredible personality that make them great companions and pets for a number of owners. With their sad eyes and droopy jaws, the Bulldog is immediately recognizable.

Originally, the Bulldog was developed to help butchers to slaughter cows. With their tenacious nature, Bulldogs were a natural as bull baiters. The sport was eventually outlawed, and people began loving Bulldogs for their sweet personalities. These dogs are now friendly and sociable creatures.

Bulldog Appearance - Although they only weigh 40 to 50 pounds, the Bulldog is very powerful. They can stand 12 to 16 inches tall with a squat body, short legs and flat forehead. They have large jaws, but dark, gentle eyes and either a straight or curly tail.

A member of the Non-Sporting Group, the Bulldog has only one purpose in life - to be the best friend of a lucky owner. They are well suited to their role in life.

My new kennel

Next week we are finally going to get a home for all three of us - me, Mum and Dad all in one house. There is lots of work to do, of course, and they have to get carpets laid on the stairs. At the moment they are simple painted wood and and old dog like me just cannot get the traction on polished surfaces. So this has to be finished before we move in - then I expect the place will be jammed with lots of cardboard boxes.  Must make sure they can find my dog food: got to get your priorities right!

Dogs need to eat meat

My Nan’s next door neighbours have a dog called Pip, a nice but nervous chap who has been with them for five years. We have a quick sniff whenever we meet, and this week they went on holiday without him. But this was a bonus for PIp cos his Dad is vegetaranian and they told us they do not give Pip any meat! Anyone knows a dog needs to eat meat, so this week Pip’s Nan is spoiling him with plenty of meaty meals.I expect they wear vegan shoes as well.

Books fro Dog Lovers

Books for Pet Lovers
If you are looking for gifts for animal lovers this year,
here are a few suggestions.

One of my favorite dog-related books is Bones Would Rain
from the Sky by Suzanne Clothier. The book speaks of the
special bonds we have with our dogs, sometimes that we are
not even aware of.

Jog with Your Dog

I have been reading a lot about the nation’s growing problem that needs to be checked if it is not to get out of hand: I am talking about obesity, which is affecting people of all ages and even their pets. There are two things that will cause you to get fat, and they are a lack of exercise and eating too much. It really is that simple and I am surprised at how many dog owners are actually quite overweight. Many cruise deals now include on-board jogging routines, and you can also take your dog on the liner with you.

Dogs Need a Social Life Too

Happy, we went to one of my favourite pubs last night - the ‘Famous’ Royal Oak in Muswell Hill. It is the most dog friendly pub I know. Well behaved dogs are free to walk round and socialise: I love meeting new people. Most other pubs in Muswell Hill are grotty boozers or chav infested ‘bars’. The Royal Oak is friendly, serves great wine and Amy the barmaid always makes a big fuss of me. I have come a long way since I was a stray dog on the A40. colon cleanse
