The trend in trainers has changed a bit over the last few years and the kudos seems to lie in being able to say that you got them for a great price instead of boasting about how much you paid.  Quite right – I think $70 for a pair of Air Jordan shoes is about right.  I might pay more for a pair of leather shoes, but trainers are menat to be working footwear, not posing gear.
